An exploratory study of the impact of commingled biochar on removal of total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) from crude oil polluted soil

An experimental scrutinization of bioremediation crude oil polluted soil using furnace pyrolyzed comingled-biochar containing poultry litter, pine wood and rice straw char made at different proportions was carried out in the present study. The experiment performed five stages which include investigation, biochar production, characterization, total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) remediation via green house. purpose this investigation is to evaluate impact blend on TPH removal. result showed that efficiency affected significantly by acidic soil.  Therefore, commingled seems promising addition nutrient. highest removal (46.74) found run 12, also had level independent variables (15 g litter-PL, 6 straw-RS, 3 wood-PW char). This suggests PL more effective mix than RS PW. However, biochar-blended cleanup varied depending source pyrolysis process as captured design response surface methodology (RSM) expert. Biochar application soils allows development microbial communities are particularly important for nutrient cycling leads bio-stimulation enhancing TPH.   Key words: blend; pyrolysis; bioremediation; soil; experiment.
